More Than Me
I started this daily inspiration blog in hopes of reaching people with a message that could encourage and lift the spirits. Some how, I imagined having hundreds of readers stop by daily to flood each post with comments about how relevant and helpful they found the message. Well, after about four and a half months in, I became discouraged (not completely, just a little bit). The list of supporters slowly grew to 14 and comments are sparse so I figured perhaps what I was doing wasn't as significant as I'd hoped it would be. I allowed myself to skip multiple days - nobody was reading anyway right?
WRONG!!! I recently got an email from a friend in Slovakia telling me he was reading my little blog and rather enjoyed it. WOW!!!
The advent of instant sharing and social networking has many of us spoiled. If we update our Twitter or Facebook status, comments and 'likes' from friends provide instant validation that they have seen and weighed in on our thought for that moment. It feels good to be acknowledged and even better when people chime in with anecdotes that support our post. All of life is not a social network though.
Life outside of social networking circles still allows us to reach people and receive feedback. In many of those cases, the feedback is not as instant as that provided through the matrix of boundless connections but it still matters. When compared to the world wide web, interacting in the real world can leave us feeling lonely and anonymous or even irrelevant but it shouldn't.
In reality, our concepts and actions are just as significant - if not more - as what we share on FB walls or Twitter pages. Remember that a kind word touches hearts even when we cannot witness its caress. Sincere motivation breaks down barriers invisible to the naked eye. Encouragement can bring a smile to a stranger's face. Be encouraged to share in spite of what you can see or hear; you never know who you may reach.

Out of sight is NOT always out of mind
