Funny Bumping Into You

When I lived in Illinois, I would often pass through Blue Island to reach my mother's home in Robbins. I chose a path riddled with train tracks because it was always the quickest route - except when there was a train.

One particular time, there was an assembly of train cars stalled on the tracks.  I waited in vein for the train to move then, after more than 10 minutes, decided to circle around another way to get pass.  As luck would have it, the train was so long that it blocked two crossings and showed no signs of moving.  I had to either wait it out or go back home.

Today's Inspiration
We often meet our destiny on the road we take to avoid it

We move, change jobs, file bankruptcy, etc. to get a fresh start in life.  Though most of the major shifts we initiate are justified, sometimes we simply feel frustrated with our current circumstances and figure a do-over is all we really need.

It feels good and makes sense to start from scratch when we incur irreparable damage. Before we do though, we should take time to understand how we are culpable for our situation.  This step is critical as it is the best way to ensure we aren't carrying emotional baggage that will undoubtedly land us back at square one.

There are times where, no matter what we do, we find ourselves coming to the same impasse over and over.  It's like creepy deja vu that won't leave us alone. We feel like we've fallen into merciless pit of quicksand.  Movement doesn't stop us from sinking but to stand still is to only die a slower death.  We often reach this point in life when we need to learn a lesson, accept a truth or make a drastic (permanent) change in our behavior - like God has personally tapped our shoulder, commanding our undivided attention.

Since avoiding life lessons is futile, we should be encouraged to try the next best thing; stretch out our arms, take hold of God's promises and pull ourselves to the safety that comes with accepting our gifts, assignments and obligations.
