Laugh and Keep it Movin'

Heading back to my office with a team member after a productive meeting, I felt confident and was in a good mood. We decided to take the stairs in the glass atrium instead the elevator down two flights to our floor. Tables lined the atrium landing and on my floor, they were filled with people conducting business.

As I descended the steps the heel of my pump caught the hem in my slacks - I was going DOWN!  My note pad flew down the stairs ahead of me, the  ink pen in my hand broke in half under the pressure of my kung fu grip.  I grabbed the stainless steel banister just in time to break my fall but not before the people in the atrium noticed my fumble.

Once I knew I was out of harms way, I burst into laughter and my co-worker did too. We still laugh every time we think about it.

Today's Inspiration
Laugh in the Face of Folly: Mistakes only make us better

We see children fall, laugh and get back up all the time.  At one point, each of us were just as jovial, our spirits resilient.  Perhaps the pressures of life lead us to believe that perfection is the requirement, as if mistakes are forbiddent.  Whatever the cause, it seems we've forgotten how to laugh at our mistakes.

If we go through life expecting to not make mistakes, we have already made our first one.  Without keeping our spirits nimble, we could make an even bigger mistake of letting our mistakes weigh us down.  Perfection is only our personal expectation.  The world realizes that we learn as we fumble and get better with every attempt.

They say laughter is the best medicine so believe that it's ok to laugh at your oopsies.  Your success depends on your ability to get past follies and on to a better future.
